Teddy Laich

Percussion

Teddy officially began playing mallets, hand drums, accessory percussion, and drumset over 30 years ago, but he's been hitting things with sticks since his mom gave up trying to take them away.

Teddy started out as a dyed-in-the-wool marching band nerd, playing pit percussion while wearing far too much polyester in the summer heat. He was the principal tympanist with the NW Indiana Youth Symphony Orchestra, played for years in a handbell choir, and gigged around NW Indiana playing in the orchestra pit for the Footlight Theatre, Genesius Guild, and Highland Theatre Under the Stars.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the American Academy of Art, Teddy began working as a 3D animator. To balance out his tech-heavy job, many of his hobbies are analog in nature; He enjoys filling his days with watercolor painting, film photography, and tabletop games. When he isn’t teaching, you can catch Teddy continuously learning to play new instruments like the bodhrán, bagpipe chanter, and kalimba.
